Chief Royal Ifechukwu Asianya, also known as Ogbuefi Ugochinyelu Agbawo Dike Izu, the Traditional Prime Minister (Onowu) of the Igbo community in Isolo, was born on the 22nd of September 1970 in Nnewi. He is the son of Chief Godwin Asianya Ogbuefi Ugonabo and Mrs. Ngozi Asianya, from Otolo, Nnewi North, Anambra State, Nigeria.

His education began at Santa Maria Primary School in Aba, now in Abia State, where his parents relocated after his birth. He later returned to his hometown to attend Okongwu Grammar School in Nnewi for his secondary education.

For higher education, Chief Royal attended Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State, where he earned a degree in Business Administration.

Business appears to run in the family, as is common in Nnewi, and Royal followed suit. After graduating, he opted not to seek employment, instead apprenticing with a motor spare parts merchant at Nkwo Nnewi. He completed his apprenticeship and launched his own business in 1994, retailing motor spare parts.

His business acumen led to rapid growth. After several years, he began importing goods from Emmagons Nigeria Limited, a representative of Taiwanese manufacturers in Nnewi, Anambra State.

In 1998, he shrewdly began importing second-hand motorcycles from Taiwan, which became his primary business until 2023, when he expanded into importing used cars and buses from various countries.

Currently, his company is a leading importer and seller of used coaster and Hiace buses in Lagos.

Chief Royal Asianya is known for his philanthropy.

He has supported his community, sponsoring many young people’s education and the Igbo apprentice informal school. He has also built homes for widows and those in need, improving the lives of people in his village and in Lagos, where he resides.

He is affectionately called “Ogbuefi” by his people, a chieftaincy title bestowed upon him for his charitable acts, including the annual provision of cows for his community, distributing food, and providing financial assistance to boost businesses and livelihoods.

As the Traditional Prime Minister of the Igbo community in Isolo, Chief Royal, along with his cabinet, worked to maintain peace between the Igbo and their Yoruba hosts in Isolo, Ajao, and surrounding areas during the 2023 general elections, a time of heightened tribal tensions.
